Valentine’s Day is tomorrow, so many of us have been scrambling to come up with some new and creative ideas while we are still amidst a global pandemic to create the perfect, romantic Valentine’s Day for our partner. From arranging the perfect candlelight dinner for two to buying extravagant gifts and bright red roses and boxes of chocolate. Maybe even planned a little getaway together.

But for those of us who don’t have someone special to share Valentine’s Day with, it’s easy to be critical of ourselves and even judge ourselves.   So today, on national Self-love Day, I want to remind you just how deserving and worthy you are of love.  You deserve that same type of love and admiration you show others. Not just today on National Self-Love Day, but every day of the year. Love is all about giving and receiving, and there is no reason why you can’t or shouldn’t show yourself that same love too. 

Today, I invite you to make a commitment to celebrate yourself and your self-love practices. One of the best ways you can do that is through self-care. Self-care is one of the best forms of self-love you can give yourself. Self-care is a necessity, not a luxury and it can be very effective in relieving stress and releasing endorphins.

Below I share with you 22 self-care ideas to nourish your body, mind, and spirit to celebrate self-love today and every day.

  1. Listen to and follow your body’s guidance.
  2. Eat healthy, organic, nutritious food. Make sure to incorporate all the colors of the rainbow into your diet.
  3. Stay hydrated. Drink at least 8 glasses of water each day.
  4. Have a dance party with your favorite music and dance around the house.
  5.  Take a break from social media.
  6. Give yourself permission to take a nap when you need one.
  7. Take a nice long soak in the tub. Light some candles, turn on some relaxing music and add some Epsom salt with your favorite essential oil blend.
  8.  Make sure to get at least 8 hours of sleep a night.
  9.  Write a love letter to yourself including all the things you love and admire about yourself.
  10.  Connect with nature to rebalance.
  11.  Just sit and be.
  12.  Spent time in meditation or prayer. 
  13.  Read a book.
  14.  Journal your feelings, thoughts, dreams, and fears. Journal the things you are grateful for.

  20.  Spend time with a furry friend.  Animals have been proven to reduce stress.
